Isla Davies is a Lecturer in Speech & Language Therapy in the Speech and Hearing Sciences Division at Queen Margaret University.
- Overview
I have been a speech & language therapist for 24 years, with clinical specialisms in neurodivergence and speech sound disorders. My part-time role at °®¶¹´«Ã½ is focused on placement development & practice-based learning. On the days I am not at °®¶¹´«Ã½, I am a practising independent speech and language therapist in our local community. I bring current knowledge of practice to the classroom to help students bridge the gap between theory and practical application.
Being embedded in our local community is instrumental in supporting °®¶¹´«Ã½'s commitment to building links with the wider community in East Lothian. I am responsible for the Core Skills Placement strand of the Speech and Language Therapy programme at °®¶¹´«Ã½. I organise and support experiential placements with local schools where students learn about typical development, and with local communication-related third sector organisations where students learn about the impact of communication challenges in daily life.
